Jules — a brand designer by trade and a passionate woodworker based in Limburg, the Netherlands. What started as a creative hobby has grown into a full-blown passion for making timeless, handcrafted pieces from carefully selected hardwoods.
Passion for hardwoods
Wood has a kind of magic to it — every grain, knot, and shade telling its own story. I’ve always been drawn to creating things with my hands, but my journey into woodworking really began at 15, when I restored and customized my first guitar. That project taught me the beauty of working slowly, intentionally, and with care — something that still shapes how I approach every piece today. With a background in art and design, and a career in branding, woodworking is my way of bringing form, function, and a deep respect for natural materials into physical objects that people can live with and use. From cutting boards and magnetic knife stands to lamps and cabinets, every piece I make is one-of-a-kind, thoughtfully designed, and finished to last.
Delicate handwork
Where I am, is the workshop — hands dusty, music playing, a piece of walnut clamped for shaping. This is the part I love most: slowing down, feeling the wood, making small decisions that will shape the final look and feel of the piece. Most of the work is done with hand tools — sanding, planing, and shaping by touch and eye. To me, that’s what makes it truly handcrafted. You’re not just building an object; you’re listening to the material and working with it, not against it.
